about

Vouipe : new album finally out!

The new album “Lichen” is set for release on November 6, after the launch of a few promising tracks during the year.

Despite the current crisis and the lack of concerts, 2020 has been a rich year for musician Vouipe, who managed to play some remarkable shows this Summer : at the Electroclette in Verbier (PALP Festival), at the Amalgame in Yverdon (with Clement Grin’s jazz project HOLD) or at the Digitales in Fribourg, where the public had the chance to discover a few new tracks exclusively.

10 tracks like a travel journal…
Always seeking for more intimacy with nature and the elements that surround him, Vouipe has immersed himself in places with heavy echoes and imagery. With his mobile recording studio, he was able to get to the very heart of dams in Wallis (Emosson, Salanfe, Dixence), to the source of the Rhine river (Oberalp Pass) but also to the French Atlantic coast (Sable d’Olonne, Île de Ré). A true musical journey to relive song after song.

… and notable collaborations

This new album has also been a fertile ground for unprecedented experiments and audio collabs for Vouipe :
• The title “Oberalp Pass” features Julie Hugo, singer from electroclash and folk bands Solange la Frange and Your Fault. Along with Vouipe, she chants the names of cities that are based on the Rhine river course, from the Oberalp Pass to the North Sea, via Germany, France and the Netherlands.
• Vouipe was invited to take part in the PALP Festival’s 10-year anniversary exhibition “Bruissons”. For his personal project, he recorded various sounds from the village of Bruson (marching band, choir, cheese makers, villagers…). He decided to put the recordings together in a new track (“Von Brus”) and to add it to the upcoming album’s tracklist.
• Last but not least, Vouipe asked the French poet and humorist Louÿs de Belleville (finalist of the French TV show La France a un incroyable Talent) to put his own twist on one of the album’s song (“Sable & Rhum”).

about

Vouipe Switzerland

Vouipe has set itself apart by its preference for instruments within the genre,
combining electronic modernity, in lives that will clear up all your « a priori » ideas on electronic music. He associates the rhythmics and lines of electronic basses with the warmth of instruments such as the didjeridoo, fujara or alphorn, and delicately inserts samples recorded during his travels and experiences. ... more
